    CDC issues new report on the growing opioid crisis

    On March 6, 2018, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a report which shows that from July 2016 - September 2017, hospital emergency department visits for opioid overdoses rose about 30 percent in 52 reporting jurisdictions in 45 states. They rose 54 percent in large cities, and 70 percent in mid-western states.

    Tackling Rising Prescription Drug Costs- a report on state and federal efforts

    On March 29th, subject matter experts from Health Policy News held a webinar and Q&A to discuss efforts at the state and federal level to address the rising cost of prescription drugs.  Many states are in the midst of their legislative cycles, with the issue of rising pharmaceutical costs on agendas across the country.

    PCG team takes time out to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities

    During the 5th Annual PCG Health Retreat, nearly 100 attendees spent an afternoon at Ronald McDonald House Charities Central Florida (RMHCCF) in a fun-filled race to assemble 500 snack packs and 100 comfort kits for donation. Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a 'home away from home' for families with children receiving medical care, as well as Family Gathering Rooms at local hospitals where families can recharge, grab a snack, and rest while their child receives care.

    A New Era of Charitable Contributions

    A recent article in Governing Daily indicates that the recent tax law “could result in a $1 billion blow to social services.”  This is a potentially huge loss of income for nonprofits organizations, many of whom serve abused and neglected children within the child protection system. The article indicates that one of the reasons that people donate to a nonprofit is for the tax benefit.
