For people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, access to the right level of support can provide more options for living independently and participating in their communities. The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services partnered with Public Consulting Group (PCG) to develop a new Community Support Waiver for people ages 5 and older who do not require continuous, paid 24-hour support. The waiver provides access to targeted services, including employment supports, personal care, respite, therapies, assistive technology, transportation, remote supports, and self-direction.
In the new case study, “Expanding Access and Choice: Kansas’ New Community Support Waiver,” learn how PCG supported Kansas from initial planning through federal approval, helping with program design, stakeholder engagement, rate development, federal submission, and implementation preparation. Federal approval was secured in approximately three months, compared with the six-month review timeline state officials had been advised to expect.
Read the full case study to see how Kansas paired person-centered program design, stakeholder engagement, cross-agency coordination, and federal expertise to expand access and choice for people with I/DD.
