PCG’s quarterly employee recognition program, the EPIC Awards, is designed to help bring the firm’s four core tenets—Entrepreneurial Spirit, Passion, Impact, and Community — to life in a tangible way. Today, we are excited to announce that Richard Roberts, a senior business process specialist in Corporate Technology, has been named our latest EPIC Awards winner for the outstanding sense of Community he fosters through his volunteer work.
Richard actively volunteers with several organizations, including Junior Achievement, Disability:IN, American Corporate Partners, and the American Red Cross. His contributions go far beyond PCG Cares hours, as he consistently dedicates his personal time to give back to his community and serve those in need. Through Disability:IN’s NextGen Leaders Program, which pairs college students and recent graduates with disabilities with mentors from Disability:IN Corporate Partners, Richard was able to support his mentee as they navigated the transition from college to the workforce.
“Richard reached out to me last year to learn more about the Disability:IN NextGen program. He applied, was selected, and quickly became a reliable, engaged mentor, said Lance Wilson, Technology Communications Director. “He never missed a session of our biweekly PCG mentors call, always offering insights and support. He arranged calls between his mentee and other PCG mentors to provide them diverse perspectives and advice. Richard impacted not only his mentee but the entire mentorship group with his feedback and dedication.”
One of Richard’s most impactful contributions has been with the American Red Cross, where he volunteers as a Blood Donor Ambassador. As an ambassador, he prepares an organized, welcoming check-in process at blood drives, relieving administrative burdens for the medical staff so they can focus on collecting life-saving donations. His consistent presence and proactive approach has improved the overall efficiency of local blood drives throughout central Virginia. His motivation for this work is deeply personal, inspired by firsthand experiences witnessing the life-saving impact of blood donations in critical situations.
“Richard is one of our most committed volunteers,” said Pamela Knight, PCG Cares Director. “He loves supporting his community, through volunteering at Red Cross blood drives, honoring veterans with Wreaths Across America, and teaching children real life skills with Junior Achievement. One of my favorite things about Richard is that he wants to inspire others to volunteer. Richard is an EPIC volunteer and a PCG Cares superstar!”
“Beyond his direct service, Richard also actively encourages his colleagues to engage in volunteerism. He regularly shares volunteer opportunities and offers to support anyone interested in getting involved, particularly with the American Red Cross. His advocacy has raised awareness within PCG about the urgent need for volunteers and the value of community service” said Raj Vayyavur, Enterprise Architecture Director.
Richard’s commitment to service has made a measurable difference in the lives of others. His work with the American Red Cross has directly increased the efficiency and blood unit collection at local drives, supporting hospitals and patients in critical need. His mentorship has guided young professionals and students toward successful futures, while also fostering a supportive culture within PCG. Richard’s dedication, consistency, and leadership make him an invaluable asset to every organization and community he serves.
Please join us in congratulating Richard for this well-deserved recognition of her hard work and community contributions.
