The 2026 Medicaid Enterprise Systems Conference (MESC) brought together leaders and organizations across the Medicaid technology landscape for a week of connection, collaboration, and innovation. PCG was proud to participate alongside industry peers, sharing expertise and engaging in meaningful conversations about the future of Medicaid enterprise systems.

But one critical moment stood out this year.

On the morning of August 12th, conference attendees were gathered for breakfast when an individual suddenly collapsed. In that moment, PCG Health team members David Lumpkins, David Payne, and Andrey Kirilin stepped in to help. Recognizing that the attendee was not breathing, David Lumpkins immediately began CPR with assistance from David Payne while Andrey Kirilin called 911 to alert emergency medical services (EMS). Their calm, decisive actions continued until paramedics arrived on the scene.

After several minutes, the attendee began breathing again. EMS personnel then took over care, stabilized the individual, and transported him for further treatment. Incredibly, the individual has since recovered and is doing well according to a post-conference memo that went out from conference organizers the week after MESC. Several people were recognized in that message for providing life-sustaining care, including PCG’s David Lumpkins.

For those who witnessed the event and experienced the aftermath of it, the actions of Lumpkins, Payne, and Kirilin left a lasting impression.

“We spend a lot of time talking about expertise, innovation, and problem solving,” said Ryan Paiva, a member of PCG’s Corporate Marketing team who attended the conference. “This moment reminded me that the people behind the work are what truly make PCG special. David, David, and Andrey didn’t hesitate when someone needed help. They stepped forward, worked together, and made a real difference when it mattered most.”

While MESC provided many opportunities to showcase PCG’s expertise and strengthen industry connections, this moment revealed something even more important: the character of the people who represent PCG every day.

PCG is proud to recognize David Lumpkins, David Payne, and Andrey Kirilin for their quick thinking, teamwork, and willingness to act when help was needed most. Their actions serve as a powerful example of compassion, leadership, and service in action.

As PCG reflects on MESC, this moment stands out as a powerful reminder of the people, purpose, and commitment behind our work in the Medicaid community. While this story may be the most memorable takeaway of the week, it was one of many moments that demonstrated the impact of PCG’s presence at MESC.
