Empowering Educators: New Mexico’s Office of Special Education’s Partnership with PCG

Last month, in partnership with the New Mexico Public Education Department’s (PED) Office of Special Education (OSE), PCG’s Rob Frantum-Allen and Tamara Hall delivered a districtwide Inclusive Practices training for Los Alamos Public Schools. 27 teachers, principals, instructional coaches, and special education staff from across the district participated in the session, focused on fostering inclusive environments that support students with disabilities.

This training is part of a broader partnership between PCG and PED-OSE to equip schools with evidence-based strategies and practical tools to strengthen inclusive practices statewide. Through interactive activities and real-world examples, participants explored how to build and sustain learning environments that benefit every student.

“The district has been implementing inclusion support for students with disabilities for the past 30 years,” noted LAPS Coordinator of Student Services Karla Crane. “Inclusive programming ensures that students with disabilities receive high-quality instruction alongside their peers while developing the academic, social, and communication skills identified in their IEP goals.” She added, “When inclusion is done well, all students benefit from stronger collaboration, higher expectations, and a supportive learning environment. LAPS teachers participating in this project are excited to improve their inclusive practices to benefit all students.”
