We all strive to keep our students safe and get them the help they need when they struggle, but we need to go beyond hardening schools to the root of the problem by identifying potential threats and intervening with appropriate support.
Built by educators for educators, PCG’s BTAM solutions enable schools to identify, assess, and manage threats before they escalate. Our tools are built on nationally recognized models, including the SK Cascade Model, authored by PCG’s resident expert John Van Dreal. Integrated within PCG’s EDPlan™ case management platform, our tool supports:
- Structured, repeatable threat assessments
- Multidisciplinary team collaboration
- Timely, student-centered interventions
Services
PCG can help schools identify risks before they become threats using our safe schools solutions, including:
- Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management
- Behavioral threat assessments are a proven method of early intervention that can help prevent acts of targeted violence in school environments. We use an evidence-based, multi-disciplinary team approach to identify, evaluate, assess, and support students of concern who present a potential threat to themselves or others. Our solution helps school personnel to identify students who are exhibiting behaviors along the pathway to violence and intervene with support designed to de-escalate those behaviors and mitigate risk
- Suicide Risk Assessment (SRA)
- SRA gives school districts the opportunity to implement a standardized, research-driven procedure to assess a student’s suicide risk. Our SRA process guides users to gather information relevant to a student’s history, synthesize the information into a prevention-oriented suicide risk level determination, and develop a safety plan, as appropriate
- Problematic Sexual Behavior Assessment and Management
- PCG’s sexual misconduct response (SMR) tool examines sexual misconduct through a normative versus non-normative lens to provide intervention for students of concern, mitigation of risk to others, and interventions and supports for students who are impacted by an act of sexual misconduct. SMR addresses a broad spectrum of problematic sexual behavior resulting in student-on-student sexual harassment, intimidation, and bullying, which may also be criminal in nature.
Methodologies
Our team of experts apply industry best practices and methodologies, such as:
- SK Cascade Model: Pioneered by resident BTA expert John Van Dreal, the SK
Cascade Model is a set of assessment protocols and safety planning procedures
overseen and administered by a multi-discipline collaborative team to promote
safe school environments. Our BTA solution fully supports Level 1 site-based
assessment and Level 2 community-based assessment protocols used in the SK
Cascade Model for threat assessment. - Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG): Endorsed by Dr.
Dewey Cornell, author of CSTAG, PCG’s solution is adaptable and aligns with your
school’s BTA methodology and policy, including your state and local guidelines for
CSTAG. - National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) Model: We offer an out-of-the-box
configuration that follows state and local guidelines for the NTAC model.
