PCG Proudly Partners with BUILD Boston to Mentor Local Students
Public Consulting Group (PCG) is a proud partner of the non-profit organization, BUILD Boston. BUILD’s mission is to “help students become the chief executive officer (CEO) of their own lives.” PCG’s employees are supporting BUILD’s program as a local business team mentoring youth in under-resourced communities in the Boston area.
Alysia Ordway, a senior consultant at PCG, became a BUILD Boston mentor in September 2022. Ordway said, “Participating in our partnership program with BUILD Boston has allowed me to meet fellow PCG colleagues while simultaneously enabling me to deepen community connections in my neighborhood. While I have only started this fall, I am looking forward to volunteering in a context where I have the opportunity to build authentic relationships over time.”
Mentors work with students for a full academic year, meeting twice a month for 60 to 90 minutes at partnering schools. They focus on:
- Supporting and motivating students on a youth business team
- Providing thoughtful and compassionate feedback along students’ entrepreneurship journey
- Developing relationships that promote mutual trust and respect

Ordway continued, “I really appreciate all of the ways that BUILD program staff and, by extension, the educators communicate to volunteers, so we are prepared for engagement. They also solicit feedback in an ongoing way so that experiences are successful for all stakeholders—students, teachers, and adult volunteers. I am looking forward to getting to know the students and school community better over the course of the coming year!”
