[Boston, MA] September 28, 2021 – Public Consulting Group (PCG), a leading provider of solutions implementation and operations improvement services to the public sector, is pleased to announce Sophia Thwaites as its new Director of Diversity & Inclusion (D&I).

Reporting directly to PCG Chief People Officer Tobi Russell, with direct access to and support from President and CEO Bill Mosakowski, Thwaites will help champion an inclusive culture and business strategy and develop and advance the firm’s D&I programs and initiatives. Some key areas that Thwaites will focus on are: the workforce (talent acquisition, leadership diversity, and career development initiatives); driving a more inclusive organizational culture; philanthropic giving focused on underrepresented groups; and building diverse business partners and supplier pipelines.

Mosakowski said, “Sophia is a passionate D&I advocate and subject matter expert with a demonstrated history of successfully executing equity programs for large organizations. She has led equity-focused professional development programs for state education agencies and some of the largest school districts in the United States. As a Senior Consultant in the Education practice, she designed and delivered organizational change management solutions centered on race, gender, sexual orientation, and other dimensions of identity. We are pleased to have Sophia drive our D&I strategy and bring innovative solutions that will amplify and accelerate our impact.

Thwaites earned her bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Florida and her master’s degree in education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She started her career as a teacher in New York. She then transitioned into management consulting in the education sector with specific expertise in professional development, online learning, and project management. In her nearly five years at PCG, Thwaites has specialized in equity-focused workshops, tools, and professional development; she was responsible for designing, developing, and delivering solutions to support our clients’ D&I efforts. Her demonstrated history of successfully leading equity programs for large organizations and achieving measurable results through data driven methods has made her a champion of D&I at the firm. She also served as part of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Council’s philanthropic workgroup. Most recently at PCG, Thwaites supported school systems in their cultural transformation efforts to address persistent educational and opportunity gaps.

“I’m so excited to serve the PCG community as its Director of Diversity & Inclusion. PCG is filled with talented people positively impacting clients in its diverse communities,” said Thwaites. “We aim for more diversity of background and thought in order to grow, innovate, and unlock novel solutions to meet existing and new challenges. PCG leadership has expressed its commitment to achieving our ambitious D&I goals.”
