Raising Awareness, Strengthening Support: Suicide Prevention Month

In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, we are taking the time to reflect on the impact suicide has on individuals, families, schools, and entire communities. These losses are deeply felt and often preventable. At PCG, we recognize that raising awareness is only part of the solution; it’s also about listening, responding, and showing up with care and consistency for those who need support.
In our work with schools, we’ve seen the importance of having clear and compassionate processes in place when a student is in crisis. That’s why we’ve helped develop tools that support school teams in assessing risk and connecting students to help. These tools aren’t meant to replace human connection; they’re designed to strengthen it. Our goal is to create a system where educators and support teams have what they need to respond to a student in need with clarity, empathy, and urgency.
“When school communities are trained to notice and report concerning behaviors early, and integrate our technology solutions when implementing these practices, they create opportunities for connection, support, and safety—before a crisis unfolds and escalates on a pathway to violence,” said Will Gordillo, Senior Advisor at PCG. “At PCG, we strive to build solutions that matter, honor the small signs, empower early action, and prioritize student well being.”
This month is a reminder that suicide prevention is everyone’s responsibility, and small actions can have a lasting impact. Whether it’s checking in on a colleague, listening to a student, or creating a safer school environment, we all have a role to play. At PCG, we’re committed to being part of that ongoing effort every day.
