Curriculum That Works. Communities that Thrive.

See how NYC, Chicago and Pinellas are transforming learning through locally built curriculum.

Community needs drive curriculum innovation.

Meeting the diverse needs of students, families, and educators starts with listening. More districts are embracing community-centric curriculum to foster engagement and reflect the lived experiences of those they serve. PCG supports this work through collaborative planning and design grounded in local priorities.

Why Community-Centric Curriculum Matters

“When teachers co-design curriculum, and see their feedback actually shape materials, engagement and impact skyrocket.”

“We weren’t going to go through that again. We weren’t going to adopt a curriculum and have instructional gaps from top to bottom.”

Michael Feeney,Executive Director, Elementary Education, Pinellas County Schools

See the Impact in Action

  • Chicago Public Schools (CPS): #1 in the nation for reading gains among large urban districts since the pandemic.
  • Pinellas County Schools: Earned the first “A” rating in district history.
  • New York City Public Schools: Integrated over 400 CR-SE-aligned ELA lesson plans to elevate underrepresented voices and support all learners.

Panelists Included:
Jane Fleming, Director of Literacy, Chicago Public Schools
Melissa Aviles Ramos, Chancellor, New York City Public Schools
Michael Feeney, Executive Director, Elementary Education, Pinellas County Schools
